Do The Crime, Face The Time.

In my opinion, if you do participate in going through with the crime, then you should do the time. Once one crime is committed or pursued, the person who did the crime and those who were accomplices in the crime should be convicted as well.

Derrick Kimborough was arrested for possession of crack and powder cocaine and a gun. Usually, people who are caught with that type of substance is put in prison for 19 to 22 years. Derrick Kimborough, however, was only sentenced to 15 years. That indeed is an unfair sentencing. Just because he is a war veteran, it does not mean he should receive a lighter sentence. It is not justifiable.

Our Declaration of Independence proclaimed all men to be created equal. A veteran should be convicted with the same amount of time as a commonly arrest citizen. He should not receive special treatment because of his services. He is still under the penalty of the law for committing a crime such as possession of an illegal substance. If all men served in the armed forces or are celebrities and they commit those types of crimes, they should also be punished. They fought for the freedom of the people. Why can't they be part of the people and follow the guidelines in being a more fair and equal society.

It doesn't matter how well known you are or how many years you've served doing whatever you need to do, you're still going to have to erve the same time. A celebrity should not receive special treatment just because they are more well known. Neither man nor woman should be treated differently for what they do. Everyone deserves to be in jail for the crimes they commit no matter who the perpetrator is or how they pursue the crime. Everyone is created equally so they should be penalized equally.
